Suzuki Motorbike India managed to sell 76,230 two-wheelers in the month of July 2022, of which 60,892 units were sold in the domestic market, as well as 15,338 units which were exported to other markets. This helped the Japanese automaker post positive growth of 4.3% year-on-year (YoY) compared to July 2021. The company’s June 2022 domestic sales figures stood at 52,929 units, meaning it recorded monthly sales growth of 7,963 units. Currently, Suzuki’s portfolio in India consists of Access 125Burgman Street, and Avenis scooters, and Gixxer, Gixxer SF, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250, V-Strom SX, V-Strom 650XT, Hayabusa and Katana motorcycles. The Katana is the latest motorcycle launched by the company in India. With a base price of Rs 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom), the bike goes up against models like the BMW F 900 XR and Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX in the Indian market. Suzuki is offering the bike in India with two color options – Metallic Mystic Silver and Metallic Stellar Blue.
The Katana features a 999cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline four-cylinder engine that delivers 152hp of peak power, along with 106Nm of peak torque. The transmission functions are taken care of by a 6-speed gearbox. The Katana gets a two-way quick shifter with throttle-by-wire, a slipper clutch, as well as a five-level traction control system.
