FAISALABAD: The Regional Police is doing its best to deliver the best possible results with limited manpower and resources and in this regard, public cooperation and digital technology would be fully exploited, said Dr. Moeen Masood, Regional Police Officer ( OPR).
He was addressing the business community of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Thursday. City Police Officer (CPO) Omer Saeed Malik and SSP Operation Muhammad Afzal were also present with their team. RPO said he has not yet completed a month of his assignment, but he is proud to say that out of eight indiscriminate kills, five have been successfully found. Similarly, 32 torn or stolen vehicles and 96 motorcycles were recovered and returned to their owners.
RPO appreciated the business community’s efforts for the relief and rehabilitation activities of flood-affected people and announced that it would donate Rs. 50,000 to the FCCI relief fund.
He thanked the business community for trusting the police and hoped that our cooperation would continue and the police would be able to improve their performance by at least 10% with the same resources with public support. He said the police expect the business community to own the families of 107 martyred policemen who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
“We don’t want any financial help, but the families and children of the martyrs should be respected by the business world,” he said and suggested that the FCCI president invite them to his office and spend time with them. . He said the Punjab government has already arranged free education for children while other incentives have also been increased.
Responding to a question about the CPLC (Citizen Police Liaison Committee), he said the governor must give a charter while the government is mandated to appoint its members. He said he believes in community policing with the active participation of business people and assured to give the best results at the next scheduled meeting. He said that in the last Muharram, 87 FIRs were registered, but in this year only 27 cases were filed. On the security of trucks carrying relief goods, he said he could only provide security within his jurisdiction.
Commenting on the downtown issues, he said that we ourselves are responsible for encroachment, traffic disorder and other delicate issues and we could solve these issues through clear intention. He said only six traffic lights were working when he took office in Faisalabad but today 24 are functional and works for the zebra crossing would also be started in the coming days.
On the crime situation, he said that in the past five days, 16 fewer dacoities were reported while a one and a half month old baby was recovered within 36 hours. He said the narcotic is a social curse but we must pool our energies to contain this hydra-headed monster.
Commenting on police checkpoints, he said these must be erected to a new case every day to ensure instant control in his true mind. He said a “Fortune” vehicle stolen last week has also been found,” and added that a new car whistleblower gang was up and running and would be apprehended very soon.
He also stressed the importance of improved surveillance and said cameras would be installed at major entry and exit points in addition to encouraging the business community to install night vision cameras at major shopping malls. and very popular. “It is imperative for the security of the cameras installed,” he said and added that in public buildings they would install cameras from their own resources.
Regarding the establishment of new police stations, he said that if new stations are to be established within the existing workforce, then there is no need to create this facility. He said that according to international standards, one policeman is required for every 400 people, but in our case, we have one policeman for every 1800 people.
He said marquees and educational institutes have been instructed to install night vision cameras and deploy their own staff to regulate traffic in accordance with the Shops and Safety Ordinance. “The police will only supervise their work,” he added.
Omer Saeed Malik CPO briefly described the main features of the smart city initiative and said that under this plan, 500 night vision cameras would be installed for which points have already been identified. He said that Lahore has 16,000 cameras but we could bring about a marked decrease in crime by using cameras and digital technology.
He said 107 Police Jawans have so far given their lives and we must own their families to alleviate their deprivation. He appreciated RPO’s efforts and said he was trying to bring a final forensic lab for one hundred percent accurate detection of crime.
Earlier, Atif Munir Sheikh, the President briefly introduced Faisalabad and the FCCI and announced that a special committee would be formed to possess the children of police martyrs. He also ensured to install a maximum of cameras in private places where his security would also rest on the shoulders of local businessmen. Vice President Rana Fayyaz Ahmad offered a vote of thanks as FCCI souvenirs were presented to guests.
