Henderson RoadHaus pub and restaurant

Darrell Eckblad became owner of the Henderson RoadHaus Pub and Eatery in October 2021. Although his tenure as owner lasted less than a year, he said the opportunity and dream of owning a restaurant dates back to his youth.

The RoadHaus is located on Main Street in scenic Henderson. It’s an institution in the community, and Eckblad knows the impact this particular restaurant has had on the small town of about 900 people.

“This restaurant has been in Henderson for many years. It’s a vital part of the small town,” Eckblad said.

With the motto “Come for the food, stay for the fun”, the RoadHaus is a community staple, offering a restaurant, bar and grill with a pub-style atmosphere. It is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“We try to have that local cuisine,” Eckblad said.

One thing that sets RoadHaus apart is its unique menu. Eckblad said people loved the Gouda tuna melt, the flaming house burger and their iconic ads.

“Being in an agricultural area, we know people like any type of trade, beef, turkey, etc.,” Eckblad said.

The RoadHaus employs between 35 and 40 part-time and full-time people. While the pandemic has certainly impacted business, Eckblad said cold spring weather has also hurt sales.

“We are in such a small community. Normally we have motorbikes and tourists driving down the scenic roads and just stopping. But we only had a few sunny days,” Eckblad said. “And now I would say that gas prices affect tourism and the number of people who stop there. Our business thrives when people get out in their cars and bikes and just walk around.

Even when the sun isn’t shining, Eckblad entices customers with daily specials and extended hours that keep them coming back. With its hometown vibe, rich tradition and signature recipes, the RoadHaus has cooked up the perfect combination to keep thriving no matter what Mother Nature throws at it.
