Excise Department seizes huge amount of narcotics – Pakistan
PESHAWAR: The Excise Department foiled an attempt to smuggle a large amount of drugs in various operations and recovered 4.4 kg of heroin and 26 kg of hashish, while 06 drug traffickers were arrested over the past operations, said an official press release issued on Sunday.
Under the supervision of Waheed Khan Peshawar Circle and Mardan Area Officer, Akif Nawaz SHO Excise Mardan Police Station along with other staff stopped car number CA 359 near the exchanger of Charsadda on a denunciation and recovered 3500 grams of high-grade heroin during the search, accused Usman Nazir son of Nazir Ahmed resident of Rawalpindi Cantt was arrested on the spot.
In another operation, under the supervision of Masood-ul-Haq Excise and Taxation Officer (Counter Narcotics Operations), Lal Gul Khan in charge of Special Squad-1 NCW, along with other personnel intercepted vehicle number LWD 0991 at Jamrud Road near Jamrud Chowki. 8000 grams of hashish recovered.
Two defendants, Habib-ur-Rehman, son of Mir Zaman Khan, resident of Hangu, and Noman Siddiqui, son of Muhammad Siddique Khan, resident of Nowshera, were arrested on the spot.
During the 3rd and 4th operation, Muhammad Riaz SHO Excise Police Station Peshawar Region along with other staff on a tip-off seized vehicle number VK 466 on H Gol Chowk towards Motorway Road after intense resistance and an escape attempt . Staff recovered 10,000 grams of hashish. The accused Alam Rasool son of Murad Ali resident of Gujranwala was arrested on the spot.
In another operation, Excise Squad intercepted H-Roll heading to Islamabad Toll Plaza RPT 981 vehicle and recovered 900 grams of heroin from the vehicle during the search. The accused Khurram Shehzad, son of Islamabad resident Muhammad Bostan, was arrested at the scene.
Similarly, the Mardan region excise police station recovered 2,400 grams of hashish from a motorbike. Meanwhile, the Peshawar Region Excise Police Station recovered 4800 grams of cannabis in another operation as the accused was arrested. Cases have been registered in the relevant police stations for further investigation in all cases.
On drug operations, Excise Secretary Syed Haider Iqbal and Excise Director General Mahmood Aslam Wazir and Narcotics Director Salahuddin said the drug is a fistula. It is imperative to eradicate this scourge from society and the province.
The director general of excise said that the crackdown on drugs has intensified, that drug traffickers can no longer survive, that officials from the excise, taxation and narcotics control department are still ready to eradicate the drug threat from the province. He congratulated the relevant officials for the success of the operations and ordered them to further expedite the operations.
