KUALA LUMPUR: All-Malaysian brand Aveta entered the local automotive arena in 2020 to target the cost-conscious side of the bicycle market. First, it rolled out the RM2,888 DY90 and RM4,039 RX110, while later the Aveta VS110 and V13R joined the lineup at RM3,588 and RM6,688, respectively. Well, now here comes the brand’s first super moped, called the SVR180.

Engine
Touted as the “ultimate super moped” by the brand, the Aveta SVR180 is powered by a 175cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine generating a maximum power of 16.8hp at 8,500rpm and maximum torque of 15.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm. rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox mated to a chain final drive.
Design and features
Style-wise, the bike’s front fairing is inspired by the Kawasaki Z1000. It is equipped with an LED headlight and an integrated daytime running light. The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels shod with 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tires and communicates essential information to the rider using a fully digital instrument panel. The kit also includes a radiator guard and a USB charging socket.
Suspension & braking
As for the suspension, Aveta’s new motorcycle receives a telescopic fork in the front and a monoshock in the rear. Braking duties, on the other hand, are handled by disc brakes on both axles. One thing that is quite disappointing on this front is the absence of the anti-lock braking system as it is likely to be mandatory among the kapcai segment in Malaysia.
