Amtrak sale for Auto Train offers $39 coach fares

Amtrak is launching a fare sale on its Automatic train, offering tickets as low as $39, plus the cost of boarding your vehicle. By August 23, you can purchase these reduced fares for travel between Florida and the Northeast, to avoid traffic jams on I-95 and always arrive at your destination with your vehicle.

The Auto Train provides nonstop service between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida. Lorton is near Washington, DC and Sanford is near Orlando. It lets you travel with your vehicles and cover the 900 miles you typically travel on I-95 by train. And in the end, you won’t have to rent a car at the airport or wait for your parents or a friend to pick you up from the train station.

It’s perfect for people who hate long car journeys and are also hesitant to fly in today’s aerial landscape. You’ll even be able to pack your car like you would for a long road trip, but without having to try to see your rearview mirror over piles of blankets for eight hours straight.

The $39 coach tickets will include wide reclining seats and plenty of leg room, no middle seat and a giant window. A complimentary breakfast is included and served prior to arrival at your destination.

If you want to splurge a bit more, you can reserve a Roomette for $249 per passenger. These rates include seats, bedding, pillows, towels and linens, and a dedicated service attendant. Want the full luxury rail experience? Room rates have twice the space of the small room and additional amenities, plus dinner and breakfast are served. It will cost $449.

The cost of boarding your vehicle depends on the type of vehicle. A standard vehicle costs $487; a stretched vehicle, such as an SUV or minivan, costs $556; and a motorcycle will set you back $298.

Here are the details: The discounted fare is available between August 16 and August 23, for northbound travel from Sanford, Florida to Lorton, Virginia. Tickets will be for travel dates between September 6 and December 15. The blackout dates when the offer is not valid are between November 18 and November 20, and November 25 and November 27.
