Three people were killed and a dozen others seriously injured in a series of road accidents in Jind district, police said on Saturday.
In the first accident, an overspeeding car fell from a flyover on Jind-Patiala National Road after hitting its side railing as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Police said one of the five occupants of the car, Rakesh, 32, from Rajana Kalan village in the district, was killed in the accident and four others, including driver Sagar, were seriously injured, said said the police.
Other people injured in the accident were identified as Pradeep, Ravinder and Sonu, police said, adding that a complaint has been filed against driver Sagar on the statement of Pradeep who was injured in the accident.
The car was heading towards Narvana when the crash happened, police said.
In the second case, a high-speed tractor struck motorcyclist Anil from Kandla village, killing him instantly, police said.
A negligent death suit has been filed against the driver of the runaway tractor on the complaint of Anil’s brother Vinod, they added.
In the third case, a high-speed car hit a motorbike near Sindhvi Kheda village of the district, killing 32-year-old motorcyclist Amit of Hanuman Nagar.
Police filed an FIR in this case on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Sumit, and opened the investigation.
In three other crashes elsewhere in the neighborhood, several other people were injured.
All those injured in the six crashes were referred to PGI, Rohtak after receiving first aid, police said, adding that the bodies of those killed in the crashes were returned to their relatives after the autopsy. PTI CORR IJT RAX RAX
