2022 Yamaha MT-15 arrives in new color and design, improved price

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha’s affordable, performance-focused naked roadster, the MT-15, has received an update for 2022 in Malaysia. The latest version features a new color and design, although no technical changes have been made.

The 2022 Yamaha MT-15 is available in three color options – Icon Blue, Midnight Black and Cyan Storm. The latter is the new color that replaces the old Power Grey. It features the color matched wheels, giving the bike a whole new look for this year. The Icon Blue carry, on the other hand, also gets updated graphics.



Along with the color update, the bike continues to feature a compact body design and twin eye position lights giving it a ready to attack look. Featuring a delta box chassis and aluminum swingarm, it looks great with a side air intake and a sleek rear end with an LED taillight.



Just like its older siblings, the MT-15 also gives you an upright riding position for a fun and comfortable ride. Its ground clearance of 155 mm and its wheelbase of 1335 mm facilitate driving in dense city traffic.



As mentioned earlier, the bike is powered by the same engine configuration, i.e. a liquid-cooled, single-pot, SOHC, VVA 155cc unit, which delivers a maximum power of 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm/ min and a maximum torque of 14.7 Nm at 8,500 rpm. Power is sent to the ground through a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch that helps reduce clutch weight and allows for smooth, low-stress downshifts.



Also on the suspension front are the same inverted front forks with gold anodized fork legs and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The braking system is managed by a single hydraulic disc at the front as well as at the rear wheel.



Yamaha MT-15 Price 2022

As for 2022, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has raised the price of this smaller “torque monster” slightly. The new MT-15 retails at a price of RM12,298, which is nearly RM310 in price than the predecessor.
